Yorkshire U11 Development v Lancashire U11 Development, held at Bradshaw CC on Wednesday 25th July 2018.
Yorkshire 170-9 (Sam McBride 29) beat Lancashire 110 all out (Ethan Roberts 3-14) by 60 runs.
The Under 11 Development team won their first Roses battle of the season with a solid display at Bradshaw CC on an unbelievably hot day. After winning the toss and batting first Sam McBride (29) and Matty Firbank got Yorkshire off to a flyer before Firbank was unlucky to be run out. Zaki Anjum added 23 and started a trend of all players getting into double figures before giving their wickets away, which ultimately stopped Yorkshire breaking the 200 mark - as they should have done.
In the second innings, Lucas Slatter (1-19) and Harvey Laverack (2-16) put the brakes on the Lancashire reply early on. But, a lacklustre display in the field gave Lancashire hope. However, Yorkshire kept chipping away. Three wickets from Ethan Roberts (3-14) from his 8 overs eventually saw Lancashire all out out for 110.

Yorkshire 258-7 (Ethan Roberts 51, Alex Wade 39*, Matthew Firbank 39, Joe Hall 27) beat Lancashire 188-7 (Zaki Anjum 3-14) by 70 runs.
The Under 11 Development side then managed to complete the double over Lancashire - mostly thanks to a solid batting display. Matthew Firbank got the home side off to a flyer, scoring 39 inside the first eight overs, including two big sixes. Despite losing two quick wickets, Joseph Hall (27) and Zaki Anjum (23) continued to score at a quick rate. Ethan Roberts then scored a quite breathtaking 51, using his feet brilliantly to the spinners, before Jamie Redgewick (20*) and Alex wade (39*) finished the innings in explosive fashion.
In reply, Lancashire soon lost three early wickets with Harvey Laverack and Drew Patel grabbing a wicket apiece to go along with a run out. Mathew Lawrenson and Lois Russell then put Lancashire right back in the contest with a superb partnership of over 120 - helped by some sloppy fielding it must be said. But Zaki Anjum came into the attack to nip out Russell for 50 and then went on to complete a hat-trick of caught and bowleds, including one that had to be seen to be believed, as Yorkshire closed out the victory despite Lawrenson finishing on a superb 76 not out.
