Yorkshire U13A commenced their defence of the ESCA Northern Counties Championship Cup with an emphatic win against Cumbria U13 at the very picturesque Netherfield CC near Kendal.
Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat. Matthew Weston and Olly Lamb opened the batting and put on 62 before Olly was bowled for 39. Matthew went on to get 63 but the outstanding knock of the day came from Noah Priestley (pictured above)who faced 88 balls and completed a maiden unbeaten 100 from the last ball of the innings helping the team to a total of 236-4 from their 45 overs.
Cumbria started steadily with Harry Watkinson, Ben Walsh and Jack Young each taking a wicket. However, for the second game running, it was George Horbury who blew the opposition away with match figures of 8-4-13-5. Cumbria ended their innings on 126-8 giving Yorkshire a win by 110 runs.
