Match report.
Warwickshire U14B 152-5 beat Yorkshire U14 Development 135-7 (Mason Young 43*, Charlie McMurran 38) by 17 runs.
Yorkshire captain, Joe Barker, lost the toss at a scenic Whiston Parish Church CC on a scorching hot July morning and Warwickshire elected to bat first in the first of two T20 games. The visitors began well, despite an early wicket falling to Yorkshire's Hashim Wajid (1-26). Warwickshire built partnerships around a superb and controlled knock of 79* from captain Ben Raybould. Sporadic wickets fell to Harrison Knowles (2-26) and Matthew Simms (1-20), as well as a smart run out from wicket keeper Toby Williamson, but Raybould ensured Warwickshire posted a very competitive 152-5 at the half way stage.
Yorkshire's reply began poorly, losing the wickets of openers Barker and Knowles early. Yorkshire continued to stutter to 57-5 before Charlie McMurran and Mason Young came together. The two batted very well before McMurran fell for a rapid 38. Young continued on and accelerated, but the run-rate ultimately proved too much, as Yorkshire fell 17 runs short, with Young unbeaten on a excellent 43*.

Yorkshire U14 Development 150-7 (Matthew Hood 38, Charlie Pearson 32, Rocco Cook 25*) beat Warwickshire U14B 116 all out (Harrison Knowles 4-18) by 34 runs.
Yorkshire would bat first in the second game. The hosts once again had a tricky start with the bat and found themselves nervously poised at 32-3. An accomplished batting display from Matthew Hood (38), who was skippering the second game, saw Yorkshire through the tricky patch. The big hitting Charlie Pearson (32) then combined with Rocco Cook (25*) to propel Yorkshire to a 150-7 from their 20 overs.
In the reply, Matthew Simms (2-19) struck twice early on to peg Warwickshire back. They rebuilt slowly in the face of economical bowling from Pearson (4 overs, 0-13), but the introduction of the spin of Harry Moore (2-14) did for the dangerous Haider Hussain (35) and signalled the beginning of the end. Warwickshire fell from 70-3 to 116 all out, as Harrison Knowles (4-18) blasted through the tail, before Hood (1-9) brought himself on to finish the job. An excellent performance and a great comeback win from the Yorkshire lads, who now look forward to a 2-day game with Lancashire.
