Match report.
Yorkshire U15s travelled to Orrell to play Lancashire U15 on 16th June. After heavy overnight rain a late start ensued and Yorkshire won the toss and fielded first.
The seamers bowled well enough, but the pitch didn’t do as much as expected. But two sharp run outs from Harry Allinson pegged Lancashire back. The innings of the day came from Lancashire’s no. 4 Aspinwall, who scored 85. Jack Young took 1-31 and George Horbury bowled well at the death to take 2-35, but Lancashire posted a challenging 193-6 in 50 overs.
This was always going to be tough on a testing wicket and the target got tougher as Yorkshire found themselves 29-5. Noah Priestley and Nico Nicola set about repairing the damage and with a mixture of positive cricket and excellent running took the score up to 100 when Noah was stumped. Unfortunately the rains came with Yorkshire behind on Duckworth/Lewis. Early wickets in this game cost them but the target of 194 was always going to be difficult on a testing wicket.
